The journey of Tumhari Paakhi has been very fulfilling: Sumeet Mittal

Producer Sumeet Mittal talks about Tumhari Paakhi which is going to end soon.

Sumeet Mittal

Shashi Sumeet Mittal's much loved show Tumhari Paakhi which airs on Life OK is all set to bid adieu disappointing many fans.

The show which revolved around the life of Paakhi (Shraddha Arya), touched the hearts of the audience with the storyline of the show experiencing so many ups and downs. As the show has now reached to its final destination, we spoke to the producer Sumeet Mittal to know about the journey, the response, working the team and much more..

How has the journey of Tumhari Paakhi been?

I would say that the journey has been good because it was a different show, difficult show to execute, difficult show to conceive, difficult to sustain so I think we have achieved all these things; the writing part, the execution part, the sustaining part. It's very fulfilling.

According to you, what made the show so popular among the audience?

The initial thought of making a story of a girl who is very positive and different; someone who gets married at a very tender age without even knowing the meaning of marriage. You still stick to the thought once you grow up and you believe that this was the right move. The belief of that character was very strong. She had her own dignity also. I think that was the best part which we tried and it was bit risky because sometimes the audiences don't want to see a girl in a very positive frame of mind and a strong headed girl though she is very idealistic and rooted but she had her own emotions, thoughts and principles. It was a good mixture of all these things and the audience accepted that very well.

It was a good change for the Indian mindset because this kind of characters should work if we are looking forward for a better future of Indian Television. We call it as regressive but it's not regressive; its progressive. If progressive shows work then definitely it's a good future for Indian audience and we are giving some nice message along with entertainment to the audience which is well accepted. I would say that it's a biggest contentment for me.

It's always a challenge to sustain the TRPs of the show after a lead character's track ends. How did you face this challenge?

I don't believe in this at all. I believe only in characters and not in actors. Actors definitely shape up the characters but after a time, only characters are continued. One should always stick to the story and the basics and do justice to that. These things will never let you down but if you will think towards pleasing some actors and think about what the audience will like and start molding your story accordingly then it would be a wrong move. I would say that just stick to your principle, the basic story and just keep on telling the story. We never deviate from telling our story. Iqbal (Iqbal Khan) was very much part of that story and also that he will be dying which was the basic story. So, we stick to our story and it worked. I don't know that we were let down by the audience after that.

The viewers were also upset with Iqbal's track coming to an end...

The show becomes a part of their family and you react when any member of your family gets hurt. It was very much a part of their household things. I think it's a very genuine and a natural gesture.

Was the Singapore track pre-planned in the storyline?

It was very much part of the story because we wanted to show that the guy is a good friend of Paakhi. We wanted to show another shade of relationship of Paakhi that how rooted and pure she is. That was a part of the story.

You are coming up with so many new shows. Can we see any cast from this show in any of your upcoming shows?

Definitely! They will be a part of our thoughts and consideration. I always try to stick to our core team and I believe that even the actors are a part of their core team because if they take the production house as their family then you also treat them as your family. So, we will see that if any of the character will suit any of them then of course we will be going out with them.

Fans are unhappy that the show is now ending...

I think it's a good part that the people don't want the show to end so it says all.

How has your experience with the team been?

I would say my team was mind blowing. It's a good thing that the show started off as a finite series and the audience accepted and it did well so it's more than a year now and I blessed because in our production house everyone work like a family.

the show, story line was very good. sad it is ending. I wanted to see varun badola in romantic scenes. There was still so much tracks they could have given to this show. I hope Mr.Mittal comes up with a show with Varun Badola as the main lead. I enjoy watching him in every character. He does full justice to it.

TP was such a good show in the beginning of it's run, it has such a sweet story about a girl who was determined and had dignity, it was good to finally see a strong headed indian bahu, none of the saas-bahu crap until the very end, it was sad to see such a beautiful story get destroyed. wish anshuman wasn't killed off

good luck to shrada and iqbal

"Iqbal (Iqbal Khan) was very much part of that story and also that he will be dying which was the basic story"

The show was supposed to end in 6 months and Anshuman died after 8 months. Killing Anshuman was a part of the "basic" story... Baah!!!
Who are they kidding?
It would be just easier for them to accept they bloody ruined the story beacuse of this stupid extension.

And yeah the show got extension because the AUDIENCE LIKED IT which fetched them TRPs. So, yes the approval from viewers is important for everybody. Killing off the main character and expecting the audience would digest everything is the height of lameness!!!

Tumhari Pakhi used to be an amazing show but the last few months scarred it.

This only works when the story is finite. If you want the show to run infinitely you MUST have some consideration for your audience! After all the audience makes or breaks a show...

EXCELLENT SHOW! Fantastic story and superb execution! Yes, it is a story that audiences are not used to - but, novel concepts always are supposed to be that way!
