In the realm of Indian cinema, "Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai" has emerged as a compelling courtroom drama. Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki and produced by Zee Studios in collaboration with Bhanushali Studios, the film stars the versatile Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role. The movie reunites the successful duo of Bajpayee and Suparn Verma, known for their previous collaboration on "The Family Man."
In a recent conversation with India Forums, Suparn Verma opened up on various things regarding the film. When asked, "your movies unfold topics which are rarely touched upon. Are you scared of the consequences of picking a war?
To this he replied,
"Bandaa is a very emotional film which deals with the topic of a girl’s courage who literally stood against a very powerful person and the story of a lawyer who used the system to fight for justice for this young girl. It also talks about faith which is so important to all of us fundamentally and specially Indians which is the heart and soul of spirituality. We are a country where we have had some great gurus, gyaanis, and spiritual leaders, and when someone plays with our faith, when one rotten apple corrupts it and gains power because he owns the faith of so many followers, it becomes important to tell the story. The bravery of the girl and the lawyer is what inspired us."
He further concluded by saying,
"This story is where the system, judiciary, law and order, the government worked for the truth. So, the whole country is with the story, there's nothing to fight about. And, when a 15-year-old girl has the courage then we should also have the courage to tell the truth."
Released on May 23, 2023, on ZEE5, "Bandaa" narrates the fictional tale of a determined lawyer's arduous five-year battle to obtain justice for young girls who have been victimized by a spiritual leader.
