Akbar Ka Bal…Birbal has been in the news for a while now for the content it boasts of. While it features the likes of Ali Asgar, Vishal Kotian, Charu Asopa in pivotal roles, the show has a new entry in the form of actor Sooraj Thapar. Sooraj will take on the role of Kamran, Birbal's nemesis and while he was scared to step out, he is glad to be a part of the show.

Talking about shooting during a pandemic and the experience, he says, ''Frankly speaking, it was very scary. Throughout the lockdown, we are all asking everyone to stay home, and now, with work, we are all heading out. Even though things are opening up, things haven't resolved because there is no vaccination. While that keeps running in your mind, you have to work, you need to earn for the kitchen and also go on in life and we have to step out thinking that. Even though you convince yourself, you are still wondering about the safety of yourself and those around you, your character, and so much more.''

About the feeling of being on the sets, he still has a mixed reaction. He says, ''It is nice to try to entertain people and it is a nice feeling, but it is rather 50-50 because you are not at ease throughout the day. You are alert once you enter the makeup room and with everyone wearing masks, it also becomes difficult to get habituated to it, but again, there is no other option.''

Sooraj joined the show almost as soon as he was told about it and hence, did not have enough time ahead. He adds how things helped him with creative support from the team as well. ''I did not have the time to do any homework and I got a call on the 15th of September to shoot and I was on the sets in 4 days itself. When I started shooting, I got a very clear brief, and when the creative angle is so clear and well explained, and until you get the scene, irrespective of whatever the people say, it is all about the writers and the dialogues. When I went on the sets, everyone was done with the understanding part and I was the one behind and had to understand my equation with everyone,'' he quips.

Talking about the legacy of the show, he highlights, ''Yes, the show does enjoy a name and that itself brings about a different thought for the show has humour, lessons, and a message, and we all are working towards delivering it nicely. It is great to be a part of the show.''
