Celebrated director Shoojit Sircar, currently engaged in shooting his latest project in the United States, conveyed his warm wishes and congratulations to the team of "Sardar Udham" for their well-deserved recognition at the National Film Awards. The awards ceremony, a moment of pride and honor, unfolded this afternoon at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi, where "Sardar Udham" clinched five prestigious awards, including the coveted Best Hindi Feature Film title. "Sardar Udham" has been a cinematic celebration of patriotism and the valor of the legendary freedom fighter, Sardar Udham Singh. While expressing his heartfelt sentiments, director Shoojit Sircar shared his regret at not being able to attend the National Film Awards ceremony in person. He shared, "It saddens me the most not to be present at the National Film Awards ceremony. However, we had all our National Award team members shining brightly at the podium. Thank you and a big congratulations to my producers, Ronnie and Sheel, and the entire team of Sardar Udham for making this dream come true for many."

'Sardar Udham,' a 2021 Indian Hindi-language biographical historical drama film, directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by Rising Sun Films in collaboration with Kino Works, was a labor of love that brought the story of Udham Singh to the forefront. The screenplay was skillfully penned by Shubhendu Bhattacharya and Ritesh Shah, with Bhattacharya also contributing to the story based on extensive research. Shah, in addition to writing the dialogues, also portrayed a supporting role in the film.

The film's narrative is a powerful portrayal of the life of Udham Singh, with the immensely talented Vicky Kaushal essaying the titular role. Supporting Kaushal were exceptional actors, including Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Amol Parashar, Banita Sandhu, and Kirsty Averton, who delivered stellar performances that brought the story to life.
