Shilpa Shetty was Insecure of Sister Shamita after Mohabbatein, says ‘She’s better looking’

The celebrity sisters Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Shamita Shetty shell out all kinds of goals. While both belong to the same industry, they have always kept their personal and professional life distinct and balanced it with utmost grace. 

Shilpa made her debut in 1993 with the film Baazigar, also starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. She has worked in numerous blockbuster films like  Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Aag, Garv and Dhadkan, to name a few. It’s been 27 years and there’s no stopping for her as she continues to entertain the audience with her work.

On the other hand, her sister and actor Shamita made her debut in 2000 with the blockbuster film Mohabbatein starring an ensemble cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Jimmy Sheirgill, Uday Chopra, Jugal Hansraj, Kim Sharma, Preeti Jhangiani, Anupam Kher and Archana Puran Singh. Shamita gave some of the most iconic dance numbers to Bollywood, including "Sharara Sharara" in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2001) and "Chori Pe Chori" in Saathiya (2002). 

In a recent interview, Shilpa confesses being insecure of Shamita during her debut.  "I always felt she's the better-looking sister, the fairer one. She's a better actress and a dancer. So I'll admit this for the first time that when she debuted, I did feel that nobody would give me work anymore after that” she told Pinkvilla.

Whereas, Shamita faced a challenge from the media as she shared: “In school, I was this girl who was athletic and good at sports. When I entered the film industry, it was suddenly different. It was a struggle to find my own identity. I knew about comparisons but the media was really harsh on me."

Besides, Shilpa and Shamita are like any other sisters and reveal that they used to fight a lot when they were kids. The former also recalls how she once threw a sun mica piece at Shamita, which led to a cut on her face.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shamita was last seen on the reality show, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, where she became one of the finalists. Speaking of Shilpa, she is making her comeback into the movies after a long gap with the film Nikamma starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia in the lead roles.
