Indian stars are going global. The latest to join the bandwagon is Shantanu Maheshwari who was at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival in Vietnam for the very first screening of Love in Vietnam. It is a cross-cultural romance filmed entirely in the picturesque country of Vietnam. The film also stars Avneet Kaur and Vietnamese actress Kha Ngan. Given that the majority of the team was from Vietnam, this screening held even greater significance.
The audience at the Da Nang Asian Film festival responded with warmth and curiosity, calling it a refreshing and heartfelt take on love and longing. As we know, Bollywood movies like 3 Idiots, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, RRR have been quite popular in Southeast Asia. Love in Vietnam explores the romance of an Indian boy and a Vietnamese girl bringing together the elements of story-telling from both the nations.
Reflecting on the experience, Shantanu shared, “The film was received very well. The on screen chemistry and beautiful blend of the love story was enjoyed by the audience. Though the coming together of India and Vietnam in this film was loved by them.”
Shantanu Maheshwari who has been part of films like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Auron Main Kahan Dum Tha said that people loved the movie. In fact, they told him that they would recommend it to their family and friends. He said it was truly a lovely gesture. He further said, “Working on a cross-cultural love story through this film was a different experience for me as well, and I am extremely grateful to have been a part of this project and its very first screening being held in Vietnam, where we shot the film.”
