Shalini and Malini Kapoor performs last rituals for their late father Chand Kapoor

Actress Shalini Kapoor and Malini Kapoor's father passed away a week back on Jan 24, 2023. They are yet to come to terms with their loss. The both daughters set an example by performing rituals that our society expects a son to do after parents’ death. The actresses performed last rites and bid adieu to their father Mr. Chand Kapoor by performing Asthi-visarjan in holy river Ganga, in Kolkata.

Shalini who was last seen in TV show 'Sirf Tum' says, "I'm out of words to express myself. But my dad always used to say he finds absolute peace whenever he sees us smiling. It was a blessing that I was born as his kid and I wish in my every birth I enjoy this opportunity and finds him as my dad. It was so sudden that I couldn't see him for last time, though virtually we use talk usually. He passed away while I was on call with my mom. It was a severe heart failure and he was gone in just 5 minutes. He was so fit and fine, earlier during the day he had eaten food and also helped mom with dishes and the next moment he sat down on bed for rest he had a cardiac arrest. And we lost him."

Shalini also paid her gratitude to her friends and relatives in Kolkata who helped her mom while they arrived from Mumbai.

She continues, "Me and Malini were here in Mumbai. And till the time we arrived Kolkata, my relatives were there along with all neighbors. My parents are very social and so the entire neighborhood extended their help and gave her strength and for that we feel blessed. In such times you realize how a good support system is needed at all stages of life but this also made us realize that it's equally important to extend your help and support to others too as and when they require. It was overwhelming to see so many people turn up for condolences and proved how wonderful my dad was. He was very helpful himself and spread happiness and hope wherever he went. I pray to God to give him place in his Shricharan."

Apart from Shalini, Malini who is known for acting in shows like 'Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan', 'Balika Vadhu', 'Rangrasiya' among others informed that, "We as a family are trying to recover from the loss. Our mom is now with us in Mumbai. I'm thankful to all people who joined us, supported us in our tough times."
