Sania Mirza & Shoaib Malik's cross border love story on the rocks: Here's all you need to know

Love stories hold a special place in our hearts and especially if it is border--paar love story. Well we are not talking about Gadar: Ek prem katha but the real life cross border love story of Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The sports celebrity duo is currently in the headlines and here's all you need to know about them.

Sania Mirza and Malik first met in Hobart, Australia. It was the cricketer who arranged the meeting, and from there, the grew closer. 

In her autobiography, Ace Against Odds, Sania claimed that she met her husband when they were both going through difficult times professionally.While the cricketer was undergoing a 12-month suspension, Mirza's career was also through a dry spell.  

However when the couple announced their engagement, several disputes followed. It was said that Malik was already married to Ayesha Siddiqui from Hyderabad, India, when he travelled in India in 2010 to marry Sania Mirza. 

But in the end, the conflict was resolved. After dating for five months, Malik and the tennis star got married in April 2010 at the Taj Hotel in Hyderabad, India.

Later the couple settled in Dubai which was the meeting point during their dating days since Pakistan and India don’t enjoy healthy relations.

Living in their happily ever after the couple became parents to a baby boy on October 30, 2018,  named him Izhaan. After which in 2020, due to travel restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple experienced what it was to be like away from each other unwillingly. Malik was stuck in Pakistan while Mirza was in India.

Well post covid the duo was last seen together during the birthday celebration of their son in Dubai. After Izhaan’s birthday, the rumors of their separation are running rife. What worries their admirers is the fact that none of them have denied them (so far).

A few days back, India’s stellar tennis player shared a post on Instagram with her son. People are calling its caption a cryptic note hinting at her separation from Malik. The caption, “The moments that get me through the hardest days.” 

It has been speculated that the cryptic captions indicates to the trouble in paradise. As per media reports, Sania and Shoaib have signed contracts with different shows and they will announce the decision after solving the legal issues.

Well now, Mirza is living in Dubai with her son, while Malik is in Pakistan working as an expert during the T20 World Cup. Their team has made it to the finals and will be competing with England for the trophy. 

Pakistani media also ran reports that Mirza and Malik have been living separately for a while now. They also said that they are co-parenting their son Izhaan.
