Saif Ali Khan, known for his versatility and charm, has been busy promoting his latest film Devara: Part 1, which hit theatres last Friday. The actor has garnered attention for his role as the antagonist in the film, marking his debut in Telugu cinema. Devara, directed by Kortala Siva and starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, has been performing remarkably well at the box office, surpassing Rs 100 crore in India and Rs 200 crore globally within just two days of release.
While talking about his professional life, Saif also took the opportunity to share his thoughts on a more personal front, specifically about his children and their careers. In a recent interview, he opened up about his views on whether his children should follow in his footsteps and become actors. Although two of his older children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, have already embraced the world of cinema, Saif emphasizes that there’s no pressure on any of them to continue the family tradition of acting.
Reflecting on the concept of "carrying forward the family legacy," Saif noted that being a good and successful person is more important to him than being a movie star. “There’s no obligation for them to join the film industry, even though I believe it’s a wonderful profession,” he explained. Sara, who made her Bollywood debut with Kedarnath in 2018, has already made a name for herself, while Ibrahim is set to enter the industry soon with his debut film Sarzameen, where he stars alongside Kajol.
Saif also shared insights about his younger sons, Taimur and Jehangir, from his marriage to Kareena Kapoor. He humorously recalled how Taimur once expressed his discomfort at the thought of performing on stage, only to later show excitement for his school play. On the other hand, Jehangir, the youngest, seems to have a natural inclination towards performing.
Summing up his perspective, Saif said that while acting is a "great job," he would be equally happy if his children chose different paths, such as teaching, as long as they find happiness in what they do.
