Saawariyan vs Om Shanti Om

9th Nov will be a cracker of a day with two much awaited movies Farah khan directed Om Shanti Om starring newly acquired six packs Hunk shahrukh khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya launching eye candy Ranbir Kapoor and sonam kapoor

After cricket, if there’s anything that excites Indian public it is Bollywood movies. Indian cricket has seen their fair share of fireworks, its time for our film lovers to get a dose of what is called an ultimate showdown on this diwali. 9th Nov will be a cracker of a day with two much awaited movies Farah khan directed Om Shanti Om starring newly acquired six packs Hunk shahrukh khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya launching eye candy Ranbir Kapoor, son of stalwarts Neetu & Rishi Kapoor and pretty damsel sonam kapoor, daughter of Mr. India aka Anil Kapoor.
It would be unfair to compare fledglings with the stardom of King Khan. Therefore without being critical (leave that on the critics) lets look at what both movies have to offer. OSO introduces a new leading lady in the face of super model and daughter of ace tennis player Deepika Padukone opposite SRK (the only good-looking coach in India) and so does Saawariya. The music of OSO and Saawariya has quickly climbed up the charts. If Saawariya fills the air with romance, OSO’s Darde-Disco makes the youth go high in pubs and discos. Music composers of OSO, Vishal and shekhar have claimed to have done their best work so far, Saawariya boasts of a new music talent, Monty Sharma. Both movies are a visual treat with OSO set in the 70’s surrounding the “KARZ THEME” of reincarnation; Saawariya’s plot has been kept undercover. However, there are speculations of the film being based on “WHITE NIGHTS” starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines. Some say it’s the tried and tested method of a Hindu boy falling in love with a Muslim girl and all the usual drama that unfolds and of course ends on a happy note.
OSO and Saawariya cost around 35-40 crores. With massive sets and flawless cinematography, both the movies have the charm of their own which will surely attract the audience initially but what we have to wait and see is which of them will truly be a Diwali Dhamaka on the box office with huge stakes riding high on SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment as well as Bhansali’s production house with Sony Pictures. As opposed to bhansali’s introverted nature, SRK “the marketing guru” when it comes to selling his movies, have gone all out to market OSO from walking the ramp and reviving the 70’s look, to holding press conferences and appearing on reality dance show. Ranbir and Sonam are not far behind. Backed by their proud and overly excited parents, they too have left no stones unturned to announce their arrival in bollywood.
Hope even after the festive season ends, the fireworks continue for OSO and Saawariya teams. Wishing everyone happy and safe diwali.
