Actress Sneha Jain, who was seen as Gehna in Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 and is currently seen as Mukta in Megha Barsenge, says as an artist she wants to take on a wide variety of roles that allows her to experiment.
She said, "As an actor, there’s always that desire to take on different, challenging, and interesting roles. Since I’m relatively new in the industry, I see myself as a beginner. Obviously, success doesn’t come overnight. You have to work hard and prove yourself to earn the opportunities you deserve. There are so many types of roles I haven’t explored yet."
"Coming from a sports background, I get really excited when I watch sports-related movies. It makes me think, 'I want to do that.' The passion of an athlete stays with you, and I would love to channel that into a role one day. At the same time, I would love to be part of a classic Bollywood romantic film like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, where you get to wear beautiful sarees, dance in the snow, and experience that quintessential Bollywood romance," she added.
She also shared that historical dramas and biopics also intrigue her. She added, "I really want to try it all and see what suits me best. Even if something doesn’t fit initially, I’m open to learning and growing."
She also revealed that she is keen on exploring the comedy genre. She said, "I believe comedy is one of the hardest forms of acting. It’s all about timing, punchlines, and delivery. People think comedy is effortless, but it actually requires immense practice."
"Recently, while chatting with my friends, we were reminiscing about classic comedy films like Hera Pheri those iconic dialogues and moments. I genuinely feel we need more comedy films in Bollywood today because laughter is therapeutic. With the stress everyone deals with, sometimes you just want to go to the theatre, laugh your heart out, and forget all your worries," she added.
Sneha feels that Bollywood today is heavily leaning towards suspense thrillers, murder mysteries, and complicated love triangles. She said, "While these genres have their audience, I think the lack of light-hearted, joyful cinema is noticeable. Earlier, even amidst emotional or dramatic storylines, there would be a comedic character bringing some relief. That balance is missing now, and I hope it makes a comeback."
She also spoke about the challenge of being typecast and said, "When people see you excelling in a particular role, they tend to offer similar characters. After performing a village girl or a naive, innocent role for a while, I started receiving repetitive offers. But I didn’t want to be stuck in that loop."
"I had already done it for two years, so I felt it was time to step away from that stereotype and try something new," Sneha concluded.
