Rubina Dilaik talks about being typecast after becoming a mom

Rubina Dilaik just dropped Season 3 of her podcast "Kisine Bataya Nahi," and in the newest episode, she had Sharad Kelkar as her guest. During their chat, Rubina brought up how female actors can get typecasted in the industry once they become mothers. She asked Sharad if male actors face similar categorization after becoming fathers.

During their conversation, Sharad Kelkar highlighted the evolving times in the industry and emphasized that male actors historically have not faced typecasting. He explained that women often experience typecasting because physical changes occur after marriage and motherhood, a reality that cannot be ignored.

Sharad shared that leading female actors are now focusing on getting back in shape after becoming parents. He cited examples like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rubina Dilaik, who have successfully regained their fitness post motherhood.

Rubina Dilaik expressed her frustration by mentioning that she continues to receive offers for roles stereotypically labeled as 'bhabhi.' She conveyed, "But still now I am being asked 'bhabhi' kind of roles."

Sharad went on to say, "it is a brutal truth that a male actor's shelf life is slightly bigger than a female actor's shelf life as a lead." He elaborated by citing examples and highlighting that not every actor can fit into every role. Sharad reminisced about a time when there were few mature love stories featuring actors aged 30 to 40 in lead roles.

Sharad pointed out that in TV, actors are typically in the 16 to 18 age bracket since most stories on television cater to that demographic. The "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge" actor emphasized the significant physical changes motherhood brings to women but highlighted that with dedication and hard work, anything is achievable.

Talking about the bond between Rubina Dilaik and Sharad Kelkar, these actors have been close friends for over ten years. Rubina shares a strong connection with Sharad and is best pals with his wife, Keerti. Just like every year, Rubina and Abhinav Shukla joined in the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities at Sharad and Keerti's residence.

Rubina Dilaik, who recently became a mom, is presently taking a break from TV but remains engaged in various projects. She is occupied with her podcast "Kisine Bataya Nahi" and collaborates with brands on social media. In her TV appearances, Rubina was last hosting "Entertainment Ki Raat Housefull."
