Roopal Tyagi to Indian Television

Roopal Tyagi, an Indian choreographer and television actor, is known for her character as Gunjan in 'Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke'. The actress recently took to social media to write an open letter to the makers of TV shows.

Roopal addressed the letter to the Indian TV industry. She started out by saying that it is important for her to speak up now. The actress said that the industry has a lot of power over society and especially 'mothers' and 'housewives' as it is put in the meetings. They bring up the next generation and are the most important parts of any household. Hence, it is important for the industry to have progressive shows to educate them.

"When are we going to stop faking it?" she said. Roopal claimed that 85% of our shows are more regressive than progressive. The shows about dark-skinned, fat, or short girls cannot be called progressive as they instill that the basic characteristics of a woman's body are something to be ashamed of. She said that those characters make normal people who go through those problems become a part of the joke by being called the character's name.

She also added that to make a truly progressive show, the makers must show these dark-skinned, fat or short girls as normal girls because in real life that is how it is.

There are plethora of shows which i find regressive but will they ever shut down. I still cant believe in this age of netflix, hotstar n amazon prime there is a section which still prefers regressive shits like this. Naati is the worst show out of them (its title is extremely disrespective), Kartik Purnima (another crap based on dark skinned girls in which age we are living that people are making shows based on complexion wtf). 100% agree with Roopal
