The first Bollywood film to hit theatres after the pandemic, Rohit Shetty's cop saga Sooryavanshi has already amassed 200 crores at the worldwide box office.
Recently the recreated version of ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ in Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer, ‘Sooryavanshi’ has received criticism.
The original song is from the movie, ‘Mohra’ featuring Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon.
Speaking about the same in a radio interview, Rohit stated that the die-hard fans of the original song who are now against the remixed version are right in their own way.
The filmmaker added that ‘Tip Tip Barsa’ is a cult song and with this, it just got revived for the new generation.
According to him, they tried to retain the essence of the original song, right from the singers to the instruments. However, he agreed that sometimes it does backfire.
In ‘Sooryavanshi’, the song takes place in a flashback sequence at a deserted amusement park. The film, which is an addition to Rohit Shetty’s cop universe’ has been receiving rave reviews from the audience and the critics alike.
It also has special cameos by Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Ajay Devgn as Singham.
Sooryavanshi was originally scheduled to release in March 2020. However, the pandemic and the resulting lockdown forced the filmmakers to push the film ahead indefinitely.
Now, after the cinema halls across the country, including Maharashtra were opened, the makers released the film in the theatres.
Rohit has also hinted of adding another film in the cop universe 'Singham 3’ which will take at least a year to start and then probably another year to get made. So they are probably looking at 2023.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shetty is gearing up for his next, ‘Cirkus’ with Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde.
