Bollywood director Rohit Shetty recently shed light on the unexpected outcome of his 2022 comedy film, "Cirkus," starring Ranveer Singh. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Shetty candidly discussed the film's performance at the box office and the rationale behind its creation.
Shetty attributed the film's genesis to the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Reflecting on the situation, he remarked, "It was made during the pandemic when things were changing. Today, if I have to make that subject, I will not touch it."
The director disclosed that the decision to embark on the project was driven by the eight-month gap due to the pandemic, with other ventures like "Sooryavanshi" facing delays. In a bid to keep his team engaged, Shetty opted for a simple, studio-based film devoid of the trademark high-octane action associated with his name.
Highlighting the practical aspect, Shetty explained, "So what should we do? Workers were sitting at home, and we had this script for the longest time, a simple, small film. I thought, ‘Chalo bana dete hain. Workers bhi busy rahenge aur hum bhi busy rahenge (Let’s make it. Workers will stay busy, and we will keep busy too)." The film, inspired by William Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors," features a star-studded cast, including Ranveer Singh, Varun Sharma, Pooja Hegde, and Jacqueline Fernandez.
In a recent expansion of his creative horizons, Rohit Shetty ventured into the digital realm with the action-packed web series "Indian Police Force."
