RIP Priya Marathe: Prarthana Behere breaks down at funeral, Anurag Sharma posts emotional note

The Marathi entertainment industry lost one of its shining stars today as Priya Marathe passed away. She was just 38. Priya Marathe had been battling cancer since 2023. It seems she recovered once but it relapsed. Fans of Indian daily soaps will know her as Varsha from Pavitra Rishta. Actress Prarthana Behere who played the part of Vaishali in the daily soap was seen at her funeral. We could see that she broke down seeing the mortal remains of Priya. She died at 4.30 am at her home in Mira Road. She had been receiving consistent treatment but her situation did not improve.

In Pavitra Rishta, she was Varsha, the younger rebellious sister of Archana (Ankita Lokhande). Actor Anurag Sharma who essayed the role of her husband Satish took to Instagram to mourn her demise. He said this was heart-breaking news. He said she was a dear friend and a brilliant artiste. Usha Nadkarni who is known all over India as Savita Deshmukh from the same show said it is unfair that God takes away people so young. She said she was distressed to know that Priya Marathe had again fallen sick. It seems she called her husband Shrikant Moghe who said she was not keen to meet visitors.

Marathi actor Abhijeet Khandekar was also there at the funeral. He was seen with the grieving family members. Shalmali Toyle, Om Prakash Shinde, Astad Kale and actor Suyash Tilak too arrived to pay respects to the departed soul. Amruta Khanvilkar wrote she was shocked to hear this, and it was heart-breaking. Sonalee Kulkarni too mourned her death. Veteran actress Neena Kulkarni said that she was a good person and performer. It seems Priya Marathe was a wonderful colleague and a joy to have on the sets. Actress Kranti Redkar said she was always a caring person. We extend our condolences to her bereaved family and friends.
