On Bigg Boss 13, Salman Khan said that Rashami Desai is the owner of 13 flats in Mumbai. It was a glimpse into the assets she has made with sheer hard work. But life was not always rosy for Rashami Desai. She grew up without a father, with her mom being the sole breadwinner. Rashami Desai began to work early in life to provide for her family. She got her big break as Tapasya on Uttaran. The show had a successful run of many years, and she won immense acclaim for the role of the possessive Tapasya Thakur.
Rashami Desai married Nandish Sandhu in 2012, and the marriage ended in 2016. It seems issues cropped up within a year of their relationship. In her conversation with Paras Chhabra on his podcast, she spoke at length about the financial issues faced by her.
It seems she had loan worth Rs 3.5 crores on her as she bought a home worth Rs 2.5 crores. Then, her show shut down and she was in financial turmoil. Rashami Desai purchased the home thinking everything was going fine. It seems the stress of unemployment and embarrassment made her cut off ties with her family. The actress slept in her Audi A6 car for four days, and survived on Rs.20 meals eaten by rickshaw drivers from dhabas.
“It used to come in a plastic bag that had daal and chawal mixed and they would give two rotis along with it. It would have some stones also but I ate that anyway.”

Some time later, she bagged the role of Shorvori on Dil Se Dil Tak. The show went on to become a success. She was paired with Sidharth Shukla, and their chemistry was loved by one and all. The financial crunch had made her very anxious. Even though she cleared all the debts, the actress continued to work non-stop for the next few years. She reveals at one point she felt death was better than this kind of existence.
The actress is exploring projects in the Punjabi entertainment industry, and has bagged a few films.
