Ranveer Singh’s big-budget Dhurandhar project encounters setback as 120 crew members are hospitalised

The shooting of Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, hit a major setback in Leh after a mass case of food poisoning left around 120 crew members hospitalised. The incident took place late Sunday evening, prompting an immediate medical response.

According to officials, nearly 600 people had consumed food at the location before several began complaining of abdominal pain, vomiting, and severe headaches. Those affected were rushed to the S.N.M. Hospital in Leh, where doctors confirmed it as a case of mass food poisoning.

A senior doctor at the hospital said they had managed the sudden rush of patients effectively, with the police stepping in to control the overcrowded emergency ward and prevent panic. The doctor added that most of the crew members were now stable, and many had already been discharged.

Health authorities confirmed that food samples from the set had been collected for detailed analysis to determine the exact cause, adding that accountability would be fixed once the reports were available.

While the news sparked concern among fans of the film, sources clarified that lead actors, including Ranveer Singh, were not among those affected. Industry insiders noted that the incident has raised questions about safety and hygiene measures on big-budget productions, particularly in remote shooting locations where resources are limited.

The episode has also drawn attention to the challenges of managing large-scale shoots in high-altitude regions like Ladakh, where infrastructure constraints make crisis handling more complex.

Despite the disruption, work on Dhurandhar is expected to resume once the situation stabilises. The film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal, alongside Singh. The teaser, unveiled on Singh’s birthday, has already created anticipation ahead of its scheduled release on December 5, 2025.

As investigations continue, the incident underscores the importance of strict food safety protocols in film productions, especially when hundreds of crew members depend on common facilities. For now, relief lies in the fact that the situation was swiftly brought under control and no major complications were reported.
