The internet sensation of Deepfake videos has now ensnared yet another Bollywood star, Ranveer Singh. Following the circulation of a fake video endorsing a political party, Singh has taken legal action by filing an FIR against the perpetrators behind the AI-generated content.
Recently, during his visit to Varanasi for a fashion event with Kriti Sanon and Manish Malhotra, a video surfaced featuring Ranveer apparently endorsing a political party. However, upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the audio had been manipulated using AI technology to mimic the actor's voice.
Confirming the steps taken, Singh's official spokesperson disclosed that a police complaint has been lodged, and the Cyber Crime Cell is investigating the matter further.
In an official statement, the spokesperson said, “Yes, we have filed the police complaint and an FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated Deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh.”.
Recently, the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani actor took to his Instagram account to caution his followers against the dangers of Deepfake technology. Sharing a message on his Instagram Story, he urged his fans to beware of Deepfake videos.
This incident follows similar occurrences involving other Bollywood stars like Aamir Khan, who also fell victim to Deepfake manipulation. Despite the challenges posed by such malicious activities, Singh remains focused on his upcoming projects, including "Singham Again" and "Don 3," alongside a stellar cast of Bollywood's finest.
