Ranveer Singh found himself in the midst of controversy as a deepfake video featuring him endorsing a political party went viral on social media. The video, which surfaced after his visit to Varanasi for a fashion show, depicted him discussing politics ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. In response, Ranveer took swift action, filing an FIR against the AI-generated video, which was allegedly uploaded by an individual using the username @sujataindia.
The Cyber Crime Cell of the Maharashtra Police has now registered a complaint against the anonymous user, initiating an investigation into the matter. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by Ranveer's father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Deepfake technology, which manipulates videos to depict individuals saying or doing things they haven't, poses a serious threat in today's digital age.
This isn't the first instance of a deepfake video targeting a Bollywood celebrity. Earlier, a similar incident involving actor Aamir Khan endorsing a political party also led to police intervention. The Mumbai Cyber Crime Branch is actively probing these cases to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind such malicious acts.
Meanwhile, amidst the controversy, Ranveer Singh remains focused on his upcoming projects in the film industry. Fans eagerly await the release of "Singham Again," where Ranveer shares the screen with an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, Akshay Kumar Arjun Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Additionally, Ranveer is set to star in "Don 3" alongside Kiara Advani, adding to the excitement surrounding his future ventures in cinema.
