It seems the first look of Ramayana will be out in July 2025. The date mentioned in reports is July 3, across nine cities of India, which includes Bengaluru. Namit Malhotra is producing Ramayana under his banner, DNEG Studios. With Nitesh Tiwari at the helm of things, people are hoping for a class movie. Many trade pundits have expressed how Ramayana could be like the NezHa Movies of China. India has a huge domestic market. If a film clicks Pan-India, it does not really need to succeed overseas. However, Namit Malhotra has a huge reputation abroad and is committed to make the global audience sit up and take notice.
Scale of Ramayana
Two years back, Adipurush came and we saw what happened. The makers had reportedly spent Rs 600 crores on the film but none of that seemed to have translated on screen. For Ramayana to catch one’s interest after debacle of Adipurush, we need four to five stellar shots that will make fans go wow!
Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
Everyone was quite kicked about Prabhas playing Lord Rama given his experience with Baahubali. Ranbir Kapoor’s past visual heavy films like Brahmastra and Jagga Jasoos have not made much impact. His look as Lord Rama has to really resonate with the audience, considering that his casting has been hugely debated on every platform. If he manages to strike a chord, things will be easier.
Music
This was where Adipurush really excelled. Given how much the songs were loved, the makers would have hit the jackpot if the story and presentation was good. All the songs were played non-stop during the Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration. AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer are coming together, so the expectations even from a miniscule teaser will be high.
Resonance
While the studio is keen to market it as a global film, Ramayana is a story that has its roots in Indian spirituality. This is why the Ramanand Sagar version of Ramayana is still loved by millions. The teaser will give us a glimpse of what we can expect.
Sai Pallavi as Maa Sita
Sai Pallavi is making her debut in Bollywood as Maa Sita. The casting has been appreciated by most quarters for multiple reasons. Sai Pallavi has an innocent image on screen, she is very expressive and looks good in Indian costumes.
