In a significant development, the Central Bank of India has seized a high-value property belonging to actor Rajpal Yadav in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, due to an outstanding loan. The property, situated in the upscale Seth Enclave area, was seized on August 8 by a team from the bank’s Mumbai branch located at Bandra Kurla Complex.
The loan in question was initially for Rs 3 crore, which Rajpal Yadav had secured using assets owned by his father, Naurang Yadav, as collateral. However, due to default in repayment, the total amount has ballooned to Rs 11 crore. The bank's action follows repeated attempts to recover the dues.
Rajpal Yadav, a versatile actor renowned for his roles in a diverse range of films across various languages including Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, and Bengali, has faced legal issues before. He had previously been imprisoned for defaulting on a loan related to his film "Ata Pata Lapata," which he directed and his wife Radha Yadav produced.
Despite his current financial woes, Yadav's acting career has been marked by significant achievements. After struggling to secure roles in the early stages of his career due to his unconventional looks and height, Yadav made his debut in 1999 with "Dil Kya Kare." He later earned acclaim for his performances in popular films such as "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi," "Chup Chup Ke," "Bhool Bhulaiyaa," and "Phir Hera Pheri," among others.
Recently, Yadav appeared in films like "Chandu Champion" and "Luv Ki Arrange Marriage." Earlier this year, he was also seen promoting his thought-provoking film "Kaam Chaalu Hai" and his upcoming project "Maktoob" at the Cannes Film Festival.
