Radhika Apte was rejected for a role just because she was fat; the actress recalls

Radhika Apte has always impressed the critics and the audience with her unique characters and earthy performances. It is a delight to watch the Badlapur actor. It is a lesser known fact that Radhika was offered the lead role in Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Vicky Donor.

Vicky Donor was not only Ayushmann’s Bollywood debut but Yami Gautam’s as well! Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the story revolved around a Punjabi boy Vicky. According to the latest reports, it was Radhika Apte who was initially considered for the female lead. During a chat show, Radhika Apte revealed that she was rejected the role for Vicky Donor for being overweight by a few kilos.

Confirming the rejection, Radhika sadly recalled, “I had gone on a holiday for a month, drank a lot of beer, ate loads of food. I told them that I'll come back and lose it. But they did not want to take a chance."

The actress further added, saying, “I don't get affected by rejection at work, but the weight thing really messed with my head.”

Ayushmann Khurrana, who was a part of the chat show alongside Radhika, quipped that since he was quite skinny at that time, their pairing might not have worked.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte were last seen together in Sriram Raghavan’s thriller-crime, Andhadhun. 

On the work front, Radhika was last seen in Bombairiya and will be seen opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Raat Akeli Hai. Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana is awaiting the release of Article 15, directed by Anubhav Sinha, on June 28.
