Known for doing shows like 'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat', 'Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se', actor Ravi Bhatia gained quite a name essaying Salim in 'Jodha Akbar' on Zee TV. Today, we at Tellybuzz in a tete-a tete with the charming lad, talk about his growth as an actor over the time.
Ravi please tell us, what made you take up acting as a career?
When I was in 11th standard, I had taken a part in a play. I used to secretly admire a girl and she got impressed after she saw my performance. That was the first time I was bitten by the acting bug.
Any memorable incident you would like to share from your struggling days?
There are many, but the most memorable one is, when I went for an audition. The casting guy felt I was too bad and he harshly told me to never ever, even attempt of becoming an actor. I literally cried after hearing those words from him.
You were last seen in Jodha Akbar. What kind of roles are you looking at projecting now? And why?
Jodha Akbar was the turning point of my career and now I want to add a cherry on the cake. I am looking forward for performance oriented roles where I can showcase my acting skills.
What was a turning point in your career? Please elaborate.
My career took a steep turn because of Jodha Akbar. In a week's time, I was known as Salim everywhere. I never thought that people started recognizing me because of my onscreen character; all credit goes to Ekta Kapoor ma'am.
What kind of genre attracts you and why?
As an actor, I want to experiment with different roles in varied shades. If given an opportunity, I would love to play intense, aggressive, real, bit grey shade character, because I guess in this genre there is a scope of performance.
What are your aspirations in this industry?
I want people to remember me as the best actor ever, on this planet.
Apart from acting, what keeps you busy these days?
I am reading a lot more and watching movies these days. I am quite a loner and love to spend time alone, as I believe it's the best way to get to know yourself.
Any regrets on choosing certain roles in the past?
The word 'regret' doesn't exist in my dictionary. I never regret as it brings back nothing but pain & sorrow. I have learned something new from each and every role which I have portrayed till now.
Good going Ravi!
