The
gorgeous Shamin Mannan who is seen playing the character of Bhoomi in
Swapna Waghmare's daily soap Sanskaar - Dharohar Apnon Ki, talks about
her journey in this industry, how she got the role of
Bhoomi and much more.
Let's have a look on what she said...
How is it being a part of Sanskaar-Dharohar Apnon Ki?
It is great, we have a very good cast and we share a very good bonding too which makes it more homely and fun shooting on the sets. The production house is also very helpful and supportive. It is a very good show and I am very happy that I got to play the lead role in this show. The storyline of the show is very interesting and the feedback that we get from the audience is also great.
How did you get this role?
I auditioned for this role and luckily I got selected. I had given one audition and two look tests for the show and after 8 months from then the show went on air. We even shot abroad for couple of episodes and it was fun.
How did acting happen to you?
I was doing my engineering studies in Bangalore but I was not interested in engineering at all and wanted to get into acting, but my parents were against it. However once when there were the Balaji auditions going on in our town I auditioned for the same without letting my parents know. Even though I did not get selected in the audition round, I got a good feedback. So my interest grew and I thought of coming to Mumbai to try my luck. I got a break in the television industry with Santaan, which was a Shakuntalam Productions show, and then the journey continued.
If you wouldn't be an actor, what would you be?
I definitely would have been an engineer. Also if I had my wish then I wanted to become a doctor. I was doing engineering only because my parents wanted me to become an engineer.
How has your journey been so far in this industry?
There have been a lot of ups and downs, it was a struggling journey. For months, I kept auditioning for the main lead. It was very frustrating and I was growing impatient but I was very focused to get the main lead only. Almost I waited for 2 years to get the role of Bhoomi which is a lead role.
One person you are most closest too, on your sets?
I am very close to Parul who plays my mother in law in the show. She is very sweet and understanding and I have good time when I am in her company, so also Jay Soni who is my co-actor.
You have done many shows till now, out of them which was the show you were most attached too?
It has to be my current show Sanskaar-Dharohar Apnon Ki, as in this show I am playing the lead role and have started from the scrap, wherein the previous shows I played supportive roles.
The types of role you want to play in future?
I always wanted to play a character like Bhoomi, where I get to play all shades of a girl right from her being a daughter, to a daughter-in-law to a wife. This role has so many character I can enact. I am enjoy playing this role and something similar is what I would be happy to take up.
What is your definition of acting?
Acting for me is being yourself in front of the camera and not trying to imitate anyone. You can get influenced by someone's acting but you should not try to imitate that person. Playing with the emotions of a character is a must and it should look very natural and not rehearsed or fake.

Interesting serial - except for the NRI bahu who is not accepted by the family - none of the characters have any sanskaar or ethical/moral values
