BollyCurry got in touch with the entertaining Omi Vaidya on his upcoming Jodi Breakers and this is what the actor had to say.
"Working with Tarana was great fun. She's really down to earth and this is a good chance for TV viewers who see her in BALH (Bade Acche Laggte Hai) to see a different side of her.
If you saw the trailer, you'll see that I have some naked scenes. I also have a bed scene in another part of the movie which was difficult as it is hard to be relaxed when you are in a bed with another woman and many people are watching and filming you. I also had to play a Guru in one scene so we can fool a client and help a jodi break. This was interesting because I've never played a Baba and I'm the farthest thing from a pious leader.
When asked about his previous roles and how he manage to overcome his last seen character, the actor stated:
It was fun working with Madhavan again. Sometimes when we were shooting next to Ferrari Ki Sawaari, we would go visit Boman and Sharman and Rajesh Maupskar, the director who was also working on 3 Idiots.
When work is done with sincere hard working people, it always comes out good so I have good expectations for Jodi Breakers. I think that's why you and so many people are looking forward to the release".
"It's definitely hard to do something different because you're risking failure and with an audience that is in love with your previous work and has strong memories of you associated with great characters, it's difficult to pull yourself out from those comfortable traps. But for me, it's always a challenge I look forward to because I get bored very fast and I'm always looking for something new and something I haven't done before. In short, it's difficult but at the end of the day, it's extremely satisfying to know that you're giving it your best, not taking the easy path, always growing as an artist."
How was it to work with Bipasha again after Players?
"My chemistry with Bipasha is great. We are like two complete opposites but ones that complement each other very well. I signed on to Jodi Breakers over a year and a half ago and then Bipasha signed on soon after. I like to think me being in the film had something to do with her signing on. Joke. But since the first few shoot days of Players, I realized that Bipasha was not like most of the female superstars of Bollywood. She was down to earth, relatively honest, and had a healthy sense of humour. This might have to do with her non-filmy background which also has similarity to my own journey and rise in Bollywood. Working with her again, has been quite enjoyable and every time I meet her, we just start up where we left off last. Pure masti."
A reason why audience should go and watch Jodi Breakers?
"There's a few reasons why the audience should watch Jodi Breakers. ONE. The script and songs were written a year before production, this is rare in Bollywood as many films and songs are written right before they are needed on set so time has been spent making this film well thought out and the songs memorable. TWO. It's the return of Madhavan and myself in a film. Now neither of us would be interested in working together unless we had something really special to show. This is going to be special and the audience is really going to enjoy our relationship. THREE. Bipasha and Madhavan together. It's interesting and it's never been done before. I think people will find the love story quite endearing and realistic. FOUR? It's been a long time since we've had a good easy-going and fun-filled time at the theater. Agneepath gave us the drama we were looking for, Jodi Breakers will give us the laughs and the break we need from our stresses so we can sit down and feel warm and fuzzy inside."
And that's all from the powerhouse Omi Vaidya on his upcoming Jodi Breakers. Remember to catch it in theaters near you on February 24th.
