Pankaj Tripathi on winning National Award: "If babuji was around he would have been really happy for me"

The 69th National Film Awards, long-awaited due to the pandemic-induced delay, announced its victors on August 24th, in a highly anticipated press conference. 

The spotlight shone brightly on the winners in the feature film category. Pankaj Tripathi known for his impeccable performances, claimed the title of Best Supporting Actor for 'Mimi'. His portrayal in the film 'Mimi' left an indelible mark on the viewers and critics alike. 

In a heartfelt expression of gratitude he issued a statement that read, "This is unfortunately a period of loss and grieving for me. If Babuji was around, he would have been really happy for me. When I first got the National award mention, he was very proud and pleased. This National Award I dedicate to him and his spirit. I’m who I’m today because of him. I’m in loss of words due to this time but I’m happy and grateful to the team. Kriti also has won the Best Actress, so a huge congratulations to her."

The film 'Mimi' had another reason to celebrate as Kriti Sanon, the lead actress, clinched the coveted title of Best Actress. Triumphantly taking to her Instagram Stories, Kriti shared her elation and extended heartfelt congratulations to her co-star Pankaj Tripathi. She chose a behind-the-scenes snapshot from their cinematic endeavor to accompany her message. Kriti's caption read, "Congratulations to my favvvvv @pankajtripathi sir!! ❤️🤗 Your father would be so so proud".

The loss of Pankaj Tripathi's father came shortly after the actor was basking in the success of his recently released film, 'OMG 2.' Amidst the celebratory atmosphere, he swiftly departed for his village in Gopalganj to fulfill his duty in performing his father's last rites.
