With a career spanning over six decades, she is credited for her versatility in singing and is also knows to be one of the most stylish people in the music industry. This weekend on Zee TV at 9 PM, the living legend will be seen on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs. Unlike other celebrity guests, she will not be judging the young talent but will be one amongst them, cheering and encouraging them.
A
perfect example of age is but a number', the 81-year-old wowed all
with her elegance and vivacity and had the audiences and Li'l Champs
swooning over her. In no time, a competition commenced amongst the boys
on who will be successful in impressing her.
Her first suitor was the 13-year-old Aravind Nair from Cochi who proposed to her with a ring by going down on his knees despite not knowing any language except Malayalam. He floored her with his impeccable Marathi which he had learnt specially to impress Asha tai. Floored by Aravind's proposal, Asha tai danced with him to the song Yeh Raatein Yeh Mausam that Shaan sang at her behest!
Then her youngest suitor - Keshav's five year old toddler brother, Vaibhav dedicated the song O Hansini', to Asha tai and sang it out loud thrice to her and even gave her a peck on the cheek. Vaibhav then comfortably settled next to his favourite Asha Ji who couldn't stop blushing and smiling. And, how could the older boys be behind in this race to impress Asha tai? Captain of the boys team, Shaan sings her popular number O Haseena Zulfon Waali' along with her.
When asked about having a whole host of suitors vying for her attention Asha tai said, "My grand children's children are as old as these kids but I am quite impressed with the wit and confidence of these Li'l Champs. I am amazed to hear all they know about of old songs from my times. I'm thrilled to be a part of the show because these kids are a breath of fresh air. After hearing raps and new age music being aped by teenagers, it's an absolute delight to hear these Li'l Champs as they understand music in its true sense and I'm thankful to them for changing my perspective about today's kids."
