Nishank Verma on Haale Dil : 'A Romantic Lead for the First Time'

Ravie Dubey and Sargun Mehta are all set to launch their newest offering, Haale Dil, a limited series that is being produced under their banner Dreamiyata Dramaa and will stream on their official YouTube channel. The series will see Nishank Verma and Manisha Rani in lead roles. Nishank believes a poetic title like Haale Dil sets the tone for an emotionally rich journey that the show will offer.

He said, “It evokes a sense of a difficult, surreal romance—and that’s exactly what this story is about. Matters of the heart are never really easy to understand, and I think with this name, the audience will come in expecting a heartfelt, soft story about relationships and their complications.”

Interestingly, Haale Dil also shares its name with a popular Bollywood song. “The musicality of the title always rings in my ears,” he admitted, and added, “I think that gives it a brilliant recall value in the minds of audiences. So I actually hope it leads the show to more viewership.”

Nishank plays Kushal, a passionate journalist still waiting for his big break. Talking about his character in detail, he shared, “What excited me about this character is the passion with which he operates and the integrity he holds dear. He always tries to do the right thing, professionally and in his personal relationships, which often leads him to a path of conflict. He doesn’t give up on his ideals despite multiple setbacks.”

Though he confessed that he is much calmer than Kaushal in real life, he admitted that it relates to his revolutionary mindset. He said, “I’m not as reactive. I take time to process emotions before responding. Whereas Kushal, I feel, reacts more instinctively in the moment. I hold my feelings and let them mature before I act on them, but Kushal acts on his feelings almost immediately.”

“That said, I find his passion and his belief systems quite relatable. I’m also as revolutionary in thought as he is sometimes. I resonate with his passion and revolutionary outlook,” he added.

Having portrayed a wide range of roles in the past, Nishank sees Kushal as one of his most layered characters yet. “It is a well-rounded character with multiple aspects to him, rather than just being a uni-dimensional personality. He’s a rebel, but he’s soft. He is quite mature in the way he handles his emotions, but he is also very vulnerable in moments. Also, I think it’s almost the first time that I got to play a romantic lead in a project, and that was quite a lot of fun,” he ended.
