Barely a few days back, Dharma Productions and Excel Entertainment released the official music video of "Kala Chashma" from Baar Baar Dekho, and the song took the Internet by storm. They followed it up with the official trailer release of the movie earlier today, which was also met with generally favorable reviews from critics and viewers alike. If this wasn't enough to excite the audiences about Baar Baar Dekho, the producers and distributors of the film released the official jukebox of the movie within a few hours of the trailer release!
The album comprises of six songs, five of which are original compositions. The songs are individually composed by a myriad of composers, all relatively new to the Bollywood circuit. Read on as we, at BollyCurry, review this album.
The album opens with "Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan", sung and composed by Jasleen Royal. The young lass made her Bollywood debut with the song "Preet" from the 2014 fairytale romance, Khoobsurat. Royal is accompanied by Prateek Kuhad in the vocals; his soft and soothing voice perfectly complementing her unique one. The song marks Kuhad's debut into Bollywood, and he has definitely made a mark! The use of barely any instruments is what makes this song stand out from the others. With Kuhad's poignant lyrics supporting the unique music and soothing vocals, this number's a must listen!
Next up in the album is "Sau Aasmaan", composed by the talented Amaal Mallik and voiced by his brother, Armaan Malik, and the beautiful Neeti Mohan. This song marks yet another collaboration between Mohan and the Mallik brothers, and we have to say, we are impressed with this one! A peppy number that leaves a smile on the listener's face, this love track will surely win everyone's hearts. Kumaar has written the lyrics for this song, and the words are apt for the genre of the song. We, at BollyCurry, have to admit - the Mallik brothers are brilliant with their love songs.
"Dariya" follows next in the album, a slow ballad written, sung, and composed by the skilled Arko. The lyrics are quite heart-wrenching, and Arko's vocals beautifully compliment the lyrics. Very few instruments are used to create the music for this soft ballad, and it adds to the simplicity of the music.
"Nachde Ne Saare" is the next song in the album, composed by Jasleen Royal, who also composed "Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan". Voiced by Royal, and accompanied by Harshdeep Kaur and Siddharth Mahadevan, this wedding number has a very rustic feel to it. Compared to the standard wedding numbers though, this song is rather slow paced, so it doesn't seem like it will be a big hit on the dance floors. Nevertheless, Kumaar and Bilal Saeed's lyrics accompanied by the catchy music make it extremely addictive - you cannot stop after just one listen!
Next up, we have "Teri Khair Mangdi", composed and sung by Bilaal Saeed. This Punjabi number has been co-written by Kumaar and Saeed, and the lyrics enhance the sad undertone of the song. Unfortunately for Saeed, however, this appears to be the weakest number in the album. The use of the drums seems to have diminished the intended mood of the song. We, for one, were not impressed with this number!
The album comes to a close with the chartbuster "Kala Chashma". The craze behind the song is such that it has amassed over 26 million views in slightly over 8 days, which is a feat in itself! This song however, is a recreation of Prem Hardeep's original number. The number has been recreated by Baadshah, who has voiced the rap along with Indeep Bakshi. Baadshah has also lent his voice to the vocals along with Neha Kakkar and Amar Arshi. The song is extremely upbeat with a catchy tune, and going by the craze, it will definitely remain on top of the charts for a long time to come!
With a myriad of composers behind the music of Baar Baar Dekho, it was easy for the album to lose steam halfway. The makers and composers didn't disappoint, however, and have done a swell job with this album! BollyCurry rates this album as a 4 out of 5 stars.
Nitya Mehra's Baar Baar Dekho releases on the 9th of September, and the excitement is already high with the simultaneous release of the trailer and audio jukebox. We, at BollyCurry, wish the entire team behind the movie all the very best, and hope that it lives up to everyone's expectations!
The audio jukebox is currently available to listen on YouTube, and is streaming on Saavn as well. We urge you to tune into either of these two sites to give this album a listen - you won't be disappointed!
