The Indian Box Office has reopened for Hollywood and Pan India Films, but Hindi films, particularly those in the mid-budget range, are still struggling to make an impact. We've heard that the film schedule for this year has been reshuffled, with several mid-sized pictures making room for mega-budget Hollywood entertainment, due to changing theatre viewing trends.
According to recent reports, the spy thriller Mission Manju, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna, and the Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and Bhumi Pednekar movie Govinda Naam Mera, would no longer be released on its previously stated release date of June 10. The two films are now seeking for a new release date.
There is still some post-production work to be done, and there is also an upcoming big Hollywood blockbuster, Jurassic World, so the crew isn't in a rush to finish their efforts. A new release date will be announced in a fortnight, but we understand Govinda Naam Mera is aiming for a year-end release, while Mission Majnu will be released between July and September. Jurassic World, the Hollywood blockbuster, will now be released on June 10th.
These two aren't the only ones who have been postponed. Ms. Chatterji V/s Norway, the Rani Mukerji film, has been put back a month from its original May 20 release date. To avoid a confrontation with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Dhakkad, this has been done. It’s now expected to see a theatrical release in the month of June or July.
Yodha, a film starring Sidharth Malhotra and set to be released on November 11th, is projected to be postponed till 2023.
