Men, the Singing Idols Vs. Women, the Dancing Stars

Trends set on the small screen as men make the best Singign Sensations while girls are undisputed dancing queens...

As they say, Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Well, it looks like in the small screen industry, men tend to cast a spell with their magnificent voice, while women dance their way in to the hearts of the audience. The trend set up by Abhijeet Sawant who won the first ever Indian Idol continues even today, while Mona Singh set the cards rolling by winning Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season One.

Many talented girls tried to give their best in Indian Idol 2 and 3 to make it to the final round, but in vain. Sandeep Acharya and Prashant Tamang bagged the winning titles, while their toughest competitors, Karunya and Amit Paul shared their side of fame and fortune as well. The same was with Debojit Saha in SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005 where he won after a tough fight against Vinit Singh. The same was with But alas, the girls got lost in the crowd.

When it comes to Dance shows, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa witnessed tough competition between Sweta Salve and Mona Singh in the finale, while Sandhya Mridul and Prachi Desai battled against each other in the race to Talent Vs Popularity. Though Jay Bhanushali made it to the finale, the competition was evident between the ladies, in which Prachi was chosen by the 'Junta', while Sandhya was appreciated the most for her dancing skills.

For now, it surely looks like girls have made the world spin with their exotic salsa moves, and the audience has fallen head over heals for the men and their sound of music. Will this trend break? Can we see men dance into our hearts and girls taking away the singers’ trophy?

We will surely have to look forward to the next season of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa and Indian Idol for that.., and of course, wait with bathed breath for the new Musical and Dance Reality Shows that might rewrite history!!

puja u said it the fan following is missing in the singing challenges lets see if this will be broken or not........

Great point, but if you notice the woman that win are established celebrities and already have a fan base or a certain following that allow for a certain advantage to their win. Which is something that women in the talent hunt shows don't have.

ya... it is sort of a trend.
but it doesnt mean tat women are not good singers or men are not good dancers. Its just the mind-frame of the ppl.
Hopefully things will change.
