Megha Sharma: Fashion is about choosing the right outfit for the right occasion

Fashion is all about dressing up appropriately, says actress Megha Sharma, who was last seen in the show Pandya Stores. The actress adds that understanding what suits you best is important.

“Fashion, to me, is all about knowing what to wear and when to wear it. It's about choosing the right outfit for the right occasion. I've seen people dress inappropriately for various events, so understanding what to wear and where to wear it is what I believe defines Fashion,” she says.

She adds, “Fashion trends are constantly changing. I see styles from the 90s making a comeback, and it's exciting, not exhausting. I consider myself a very fashionable person who loves experimenting with different things—jewellery, makeup, clothes, and shoes. As an actor, it's important to be fashionable and presentable all the time, whether you're out or at home. For me, it's fun and not exhausting.”

Ask her what are her comfort clothes, and she says, “My go-to comfort clothes are shorts and a tee or tank top, which I prefer wearing at home all day. But when I'm stepping out, I love to dress up.”

Meanwhile, the actress adds that picking up characters with a diverse fashion sense is not an issue for her. “When it comes to my work, if I get a character whose fashion sense is completely different from mine, that's okay because that's what a challenge is about. It's one aspect that makes the role interesting and challenging for me. I've always enjoyed playing such characters, so I'm comfortable with it,” she says.

She adds, “I find it enjoyable when suddenly I'm in my real looks or people see how fashionable I am, after dressing up in a completely different attire that fits my character. It adds a surprise element for people—they get to discover and then look forward to what I'll wear next at events. Dressing up in Indian sarees is completely fine with me, and I think I'd have a lot of fun and enjoy it if I get to do that.”

Talking about accessories, she says that it all depends on what you choose to wear and the occasion. “I believe that choosing accessories depends on the outfit, your mood, and the occasion. Sometimes, like with earrings, you might feel they complement your outfit perfectly. Other times, you might feel that no jewellery is needed because the dress is striking on its own. It depends on the occasion and the style of the dress you're wearing. There's nothing that's universally unnecessary it all varies based on what works best with your outfit,” she says.

She adds, “I feel sometimes people go too far with their outfits. They wear heavy earrings, heavy makeup, necklaces, and elaborate hairstyles, and then focus on their dress and shoes—it's just too much, in my opinion. If your dress is already making a statement, let it shine. If you want your makeup to stand out, focus on either your lips or your eyes, not both. Fashion is about looking great, and simplicity often brings out true beauty. When you overdo it, people can't appreciate the beauty of your outfit or your natural look. Just keep it simple, flaunt your dress even if it's basic, and pair it with a nice lipstick. Some people get overly excited about fashion, but it's important to strike a balance. Being fashionable is great, but going overboard can turn into a disaster.”
