'Mardaani' director Pradeep Sarkar passes away at 68

Reports suggest that he breathed his last at 3.30 a.m. on March 24.

The day has begun on a sad note for everyone in the entertainment industry and otherwise. Celebrated writer and director Pradeep Sarkar has passed away at the age of 68. Reports suggest that he breathed his last at 3.30 a.m. on March 24. He was said to be on dialysis and his potassium levels had dropped drastically and then he passed away while being admitted in the hospital.

Funeral arrangements have already been made and the last rites will take place at a crematorium in Santacruz for 4 p.m. today. Several industry people received the message and are utterly shocked on the same.

It was actor Neetu Chandra who confirmed his demise where she also revealed that Sarkar was the first director she worked with.

As one knows, Sarkar was one of the most known filmmakers in the industry spawning a legendary career. While he began his career as a filmmaker with brand commercials, he then ventured into feature films. After serving as an editor on Munnabhai M.B.B.S, Sarkar went on to make his Hindi directorial debut with Parineeta, which was a resounding success. Sarkar director several other films as well where he achieved further success with Mardaani starring Rani Mukerji. His last directorial remains to be Helicopter Eela when it comes to feature films but also director the first two episodes of Duranga on Zee5.
