Manisha Koirala was a pure delight for the fans as Mallikajaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The series debuted on the OTT platform earlier this month on May 1. Since its release, it has been a much-buzzed topic on the internet.
In a delightful turn of events, veteran actress Manisha Koirala recently met UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and shared that most attendees at a seminar had ‘loved’ Heeramandi.
A few days ago, Manisha Koirala took to Instagram to share a series of pictures from her meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The actress met him at 10 Downing Street, representing her home country, Nepal, in celebration of 100 years of the ‘friendship treaty’ between Nepal and the UK. She expressed her joy upon learning that many people there had watched and appreciated her latest release, Heeramandi.
In her caption, she wrote, “It was an honor to be invited to 10 Downing Street to celebrate United Kingdom - Nepal relations and 100 years of our friendship treaty. It was such a pleasure to hear the Prime Minister @rishisunakmp speak fondly of our country #nepal. I took the liberty of inviting the P.M. and his family to come trek to Everest Base Camp. Can you believe that most of the attendees had seen #heeramandionnetflix and loved it? I was thrilled!!”
The post garnered a lot of attention, with fans flooding the comments section with praise. Many lauded her performance, while others showed their love with red heart and heart-eye emojis.
For those who might not know, Manisha was born in Kathmandu and is the daughter of Nepalese politician Prakash Koirala. Her grandfather, Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, served as the Prime Minister of Nepal from 1959 to 1960.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar marks the digital debut of the grandiose director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series features an impressive ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Fardeen Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman among others.
Currently streaming on Netflix, the show is set against the backdrop of the pre-independence era and narrates the lives of courtesans in Heeramandi, Lahore.
