The news of Malaika and Amrita Arora's father's passing has stirred up the internet. Although the investigating officer suggested a possible suicide, recent updates indicate that Mehta contacted his daughters before his death, expressing that he felt "sick" and "tired."
India Today reported that just before Anil Mehta, Malaika and Amrita Arora's father, passed away, he reached out to his daughters. Sources cited in the report mentioned that he said, "I'm sick and tired," during the call.
Joyce Arora, the actress's mother, informed the authorities that despite being divorced, they had been residing together for a few years. She was the sole person present with Anil during the incident. Describing the heartbreaking event further, she mentioned that her ex-husband had a routine of reading the newspapers every morning on the balcony.
On September 11, when Joyce spotted his slippers in the living room, she went to search for him on the balcony but didn't find him there. As she leaned over to listen to the commotion from the building, she heard the watchman calling for assistance. It was at that moment she sensed that something was amiss. Joyce also mentioned that aside from some knee pain, Anil did not have any significant illnesses or health concerns.
DCP Crime Branch Raj Tilak Roshan, in his media statement, stated that they were looking into the incident. As per their initial assessment, it seems to be a case of suicide "at prima facie," with ongoing investigations to uncover more details.
Malaika Arora's official statement released on Wednesday evening contained a heartfelt message. It read, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”
Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Arhaan Khan, Kim Sharma, and Shibani Dandekar, along with others, promptly stood by the Arora family during their challenging times.
