‘Har Har Mahadev’ is the first expression that comes to our mind when we think about Lord Shiva. With a strong and chiseled physique, sitting on a rock with Goddess Parvati, holding a trishul in one hand, Lord Shiva is one of the most popular mythological gods.
Today on the occasion of Mahashivratri, let us have a look at the television shows that have put their best foot forward when it comes to the portrayal of Lord Shiva on Indian Television:-
Devon Ke Dev Mahadev (Mohit Raina)
Actor Mohit Raina till date is known to be one of the best actors who have played the character of Lord Shiva on the screen. Devon ke Dev….Mahadev shows the story of how Lord Shiva falls in love with Devi Sati, the granddaughter of Lord Vishnu and how their relationship changes the universe once he becomes the householder.
Neeli Chhatri Wale (Himanshu Soni)
Neeli Chhatri Waale is a perfect example of a show that weaves an urban story with one of the most popular lords, Shiva. Neeli Chhatri Wale portrays a common man named Bhagwan Das who is torn between his personal and professional life. He is bullied by his boss, wife, and father, and his children are ashamed of his profession as an underwear salesman. Bhagwan Das meets Shivaye, a human representation of the Hindu god Shiva. Shivaye, whom only Bhagwan Das can see, guides Bhagwan Das through various dilemmas.
Siya Ke Ram (Rohit Bakshi)
Siya Ke Ram does not revolve around the story of Lord Shiva but in the show Shiva is instrumental in taking the story forward. Rohit Bakshi played a mythological character for the first time in Siya Ke Ram and the actor nailed it. This show presents the epic Ramayana, the story of Rama and Devi Sita from Sita's perspective.
Mahakali, Anth Hi Aarambh hai (Sourabh Raj Jain)
After playing the role of Krishna in Mahabharat and Vishnu in Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev, Sourabh Jain was seen as Lord Shiva in Mahakali...Anth Hi Aarambh Hai. The show's plot revolves around the much-adored tale of Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva and sister of Lord Vishnu, and her alter-ego, Mahakali.
Namah Lakshmi Narayan (Tarun Khanna)
Star Plus mythological drama, Namah witnessed the entry of Tarun Khanna after Vikas Manaktala exited the show. Namah initially focused on the relationship between Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, two main deities of Hindu mythology and how their friendship is tested in Kali Yuga. Later, it focused mainly on Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi and their eternal tale based on Vishnu Purana.
Happy Mahashivratri everyone!
