Loksabha 2019 elections have already begun in the country and many of us are still unaware of the facts behind Indian election system. It is way too big than we can imagine. Yes, you read it right! The number of voters in India is bigger than the population of Europe and Australia combined and the election process is carried out on a massive scale, even in the remotest area, a polling booth is set up.

On Thursday, in the first phase of Loksabha elections,over ten million voters were estimated to be casting their votes. And as today, voting for the fourth phase of National elections are taking place in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, we have picked five best Indian shows based on politics.

Star Plus sitcom Har Shaakh Par Ullu Baitha Hai derived its title from famous sher by Shauq Bahraichi. The show is set in the fictional state of Ulta Pradesh. The Chief Minister of the State who hails from Thenga Party, is fooling the innocent citizens by making false promises. Despite getting fooled by the same leader, common people still fall for his manipulative talks and vote for him. The plot focused on topics of current affairs and social and political issues like onion hoarding, etc. The show enjoyed all in all a different set of audience because of its dark satire.

Nimki Mukhiya

Nimki Mukhiya

Nimki Mukhiya is a Star Bharat show which became very popular among viewers, all thanks to its storyline with a touch of Nimki aka Bhumika Gurung’s wit. The show centres around a girl named Nimki who hails from the lower section of a village, and accidentally becomes the Mukhiya of the town.

Ji Mantriji

Ji Mantriji

Ji Mantriji was again a popular sitcom of its time, it was an adaptation of the British Satirical sitcom Yes Minister. The show featured veteran actor Late Farooq Shaikh as Surya Prakash Singh, the Minister of Administrative Affairs; and Jayant Kripalani as the department's secretary. The show narrated the struggles of formulating and enacting new policies.

Kakaji Kahin is a Indian Political satire based on Manohar Shyam Joshi’s popular book Netaji Kahin. It featured late actor Om Puri in lead role. 

Rajani


Rajani

Rajani is an Indian daily soap which aired on Doordarshan. The show starred actress Priya Tendulkar in lead role and was Directed by ace director Basu Chatterjee. The story depicted the real picture of government offices and officials in India. It brought into light the issues of corruption and the neglectful working system prevalent in government offices. The show became immensely popular because of its awareness content.

Saam Daam Dand Bhed of Star Bharat was based on politics. The show was good when Sonal Vengurlekar was paired opposite the male lead. But the show became rubbish when a new girl Roshni I guess was made the protagonist.
