2019 in every sartorial way has indeed been an incredible year. It gave us varied trends, fashion inspiration and many new style to look out for. Saree being the most coveted of all the traditional garments, has gone through a major evolution! Which reminds us of taking a look at different drapes that we can incorporate in our ethnic wardrobe for the next time we decide to give a spin to this six-yards-of-sultriness, right here in 2020.
Starting with Telly town’s saree connoisseur, Anita Hassanandani. Of all the lovely drapes that she’s donned, this sequence one steals the cake. Credits to Manish Malhotra for bringing the sequence saree rage in 2019. This will see you through 2020 and beyond!
How paneer is for vegetarian food lovers, crepe is for the one’s losing their hearts to saree (only after georgette and chiffon). Here we have Aalisha Panwar, slaying a vibrant tie-dye open pallu drape.
If there are some standard rules of draping the six-yards then there are also rad ways of breaking those rules. Of all the eccentric ways of styling a saree, like Aneri Vajani’s done here, the one wrapped around the neck and paired with a tee is the coolest and will be in 2020 as well!
Saree gown, as the name suggests is a stylish fusion of western aesthetics and Indian beauty. Here we have a certified saree fan, Divyanka Tripathi, who was most often than not seen only simple drapes in YHM, rocking a saree gown over a choli.
Meet one of the most popular draping trends that took the fashion world by storm. The half saree drape, layered over pants and not the quintessential petticoat. Here’s looking at Erica who’s clubbed with a button down shirt.
Kanika Mann has a different version of the same. A monotone half drape, incorporated with a tube jumpsuit.
While that was cute, Shrenu Parekh has an edgy take with this structural design, comprising a peplum and satin saree style pleated skirt.
