Kiara Advani's old interview clip goes viral; faces trolls for struggling with South Indian states

The clip, which is making rounds online, is from Rana Daggubati’s talk show, where Kiara appeared alongside Telugu actor Ram Charan to promote their film Vinaya Vidheya Rama.

During the episode, Rana playfully quizzed Kiara about her knowledge of South Indian states and the languages spoken there. While she confidently named Telangana and Karnataka, Kiara stumbled when it came to Andhra Pradesh, needing a prompt from Ram Charan to get it right. The situation grew more awkward when she was unable to identify Malayalam as the language spoken in Kerala, leaving her momentarily speechless. This incident has now resurfaced, sparking a wave of online trolling.

Many social media users have drawn parallels between Kiara's slip-up and Alia Bhatt's infamous moment on Karan Johar's talk show, where she got a basic General Knowledge question wrong. Kiara, who was originally named Alia before changing her name when she entered the film industry, faced comments like, "Her real name is Alia, so no surprises there," and "She’s showing off her low IQ." Another user sarcastically remarked, “Even a government school backbencher could answer this.”

The video has triggered a Reddit thread where netizens mocked the actress for her lack of knowledge about Indian states. Some pointed out the irony that Kiara has starred in films based on South Indian cinema, with one of her biggest successes being Kabir Singh, the remake of the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. Adding fuel to the fire, users noted that one of her upcoming films, Game Changer, is a Telugu political drama where she is reuniting with Ram Charan.
