Kareena Kapoor has set some amazing examples when it came to pregnancy in the months gone by. The actress has not only done the never-done-before but also broken many myths revolving around motherhood.
From her initial days of pregnancy to her delivery and even after that, Bebo was on her toes. Be it shooting for movies or advertisements or going around the town shopping and partying, Kareena did it all. And all this while carried herself flawlessly and her baby bump with pride, something that no other actress' had done in the years gone by.
On one hand, Kareena was applauded for breaking the stereotypes but on the other there were many who critized her for being so much socially active, partying after her delivery and coming out in public soon after giving birth to her first baby.
Not only this, controversy over her son's name, Taimur Ali Khan was also blown out of proportion and she and her husband Saif Ali Khan were slammed for it. There were people passing insensitive comments and speculating various stories.
All this while, Bebo was quiet and didn't feel like retaliating to all the stories and controversies, but, for the first time now, she has opened up and spoken in length and defended herself.
During an interview with a popular daily, Kareena has opened up about many things revolving her pregnancy, her delivery, her baby and much more.
"Everyone has an opinion in India, especially when it concerns women. 'Hey, you're old enough to be married.' 'Oh, you must have a baby now. It's the right age.' When you want to have a baby should be your choice."
She also spoke about being disappointed when people judged her for her choice to work after becoming a mother and her ethics as a professional.
"Yes, I was on my feet a few days after my delivery, but it's upsetting to have people judge you for it. No one has the right to comment on how I conduct myself or what sort of a mother I am. Everyone seems to have an opinion."
"HOW CAN ANYONE DECIDE ON MY BEHALF WHETHER I AM SUPPOSED TO FEEL DEPRESSED OR IF I CAN STEP OUT BEFORE 45 DAYS?"
Talking about the controversy revolving around her son Taimur Ali Khan's name, she said: "How is my baby's name anyone's business? All this erupted when I wanted to enjoy every moment of being a mother. Saif and I kept it all aside and savoured our time with Taimur. We cherish every moment we have with him."
She further added that she was annoyed when some people went on to the extent of suggesting names for her baby, "When we named our son Taimur, everyone in the country suddenly turned into a historian, philosopher, and scientist. Everyone seemed to know the meaning of the name, and the supposed history behind it. They even suggested alternate names for my baby."
"Just because I'm elusive and my husband and I are not on social media talking about our emotions on an hourly basis, people take the liberty to put out stories about my child and me."
"I will not scream from rooftops about experiencing motherhood or how much I love Taimur. There's always the pressure of being judged, no matter what you do. It's about how you deal with it."
On a concluding note, she spoke about women subjugation and stated that nobody should undermine women just because gender roles taught them so.
"Never question a woman's gut and instinct. Women have superior and they know what the right thing is. They are born with strong intuitions. That's why they say, never question your mom. She is always right."

I beg to differ about how Kareena's pregnancy broke myths. Every woman experiences pregnancy according to her health and environment. Kareena's pregnancy did not break myths because those are not myths to be broken. She was simply lucky enough to experience a easy-going pregnancy.

Omg these two have become meena kumari ... as if they are the only mother in the world and no one has passed from this experience... Indeed every woman passes from this journey but they consider this as the most beautiful moments of their life... and don't over react like this

First she herself made a huge cry about her pregnancy for 7 months. Her PR team worked extensively so as to make sure her being pregnant is the only things one should be knowing all those months & then they expect no one to comment! You madam sell out your pregnancy to the media. None would have give a damn if you have kept all those activities to yourself. Seeing the way she had made a show out of her own pregnancy to the world my respect for actresses like Aishwarya, lara & Rani grown a real lot. They didn't made any hoo-haa about their pregnancy, enjoy it to the full themselves rather than being the headlines of the newspaper & they starts working post their deliveries (Rani mukherjee is going to work in some movie now, aishwarya attended cannes film festival post her pregnancy & Lara too did a movie).<br/>So stop being the victim all the time.

So she wants to work right after her baby .. So what?? One wants to spend her entire time with her baby and the other wants to work right away.. So what??? It's just a choice .. That they both obviously have the liberty to have.. Gosh!! As if these r the only women giving births !!
