Karan Singh, who was seen in Imagine TV's Jamunia and is currently seen in Star Plus' Love U Zindagi, will be seen in 'Maryada...Lekin Kab Tak? in a very interesting and challenging role.
As the secret of Gaurav (Dakssh Ajit Singh) being a gay is revealed in the family, the question that lingers in the viewers' mind is about Gaurav's partner
A little birdie from the sets informs, "Karan Singh has been finalized to essay Karan who is Gaurav's boy friend and will enter the frame to make the picture more clear about their relationship."
"He will start shooting in a day or two. However the promo for his entry has been shot, and will be on air any moment."
We contacted Karan Singh and he confirmed, "Yes, I have been lucky to essay such a character which I never tried or even tested before on small screen. I had sleepless nights thinking on the character because essaying a gay character is not that easy a job and an actor has to maintain the thin line of the character so that it doesn't get vulgar."
What is your character all about? "The character of Karan will be as normal as any other guy and won't be like any other gay characters which are shown on screen with cozy acts. Hope the character comes out well."
All we can say is it's a challenging role Karan Singh!

I am commenting way late on this, but I just wanted to throw in another 'go Team Maryada!!' on this decision. This is a totally different track from what other shows usually drag out in these situations, and the fact that they've gone and done something this path breaking by today's Indian TV standards is very much laudable. I'm glad that they are treating this with respect and sensitivity so far, and really hope they don't get cold feet and end up doing something to bungle it up. Gay people are HUMANS, with emotions, personalities and the right to exist as much as anyone else. They are not one-off jokes you drag into your show for a cheap laugh. I hope this serious portrayal in Maryada will do something to discourage others from repeating those horrible stereotypes over and over.

i don't have any problem with gaurav being gay...in fact its guud to see that an issue like this is being presented to the viewers, coz things like this do happen in the world! but i don't know wat poor vidya's gonna do now! gaurav shud have dared before, atleast he wudn't have spoilt a girl's life...coz afcourse, now that he's admitted that he's gay, there's no chance of him n vidya living together...wat will SHE do now?? :S

Really Maryada team deserve applause for portraying such important issues in the show! About time people come to term with issues like these and learn to accept the differences that exist instead of shying away from the topic. All the best to the team and the actors! Am so proud i am a fan of this show, truly a realistic one at present on Star Plus.

OMG. I absolutely love Karan Singh. In Love U Zindagi he won my heart, but unfortunately Rahul had to but in. Karan is so romantic and stylish. I'm glad he is back on screen, but him being GAY?? Hmmm, I'm not sure about that

Wow !!! A mesmerised standing ovation to d team and d actors. They deserve d applause for daring to go beyond d mundane and to follow a trail never done before. It actly requires lots of guts and maturity to deal wid and portray issues like this about which d masses hav blind prejudices and misconceptions.Well, acc to me,in a democratic, liberated and radical country like ours, its high time we extended d principle of To each his own to all groups and sections of d society. What two consenting adults do in terms of their relationship and preferences is none of our business to mind. And shows like dis will go a long way in achieving d sensitivity and ideals required to deal wid d same.Hope d track succeeds and d ppl wid minds as narrow as a matchstick head will get a life !!!!
