Kantara was one of the biggest pan-India box office successes of 2022. Rishab Shetty starred and directed a movie that took us back to our spiritual roots where local deities, kshetrapalas were venerated. The movie got a great response from all over the country, and Varaha Roopam was on people’s devotional play-list. The film made Rs 407 crores worldwide with the Hindi numbers coming close to Rs 80 crores. Seeing its success, the makers were inspired to make Kantara 2. With its roots in Indian mythology, Kantara 2 is reportedly going to be a visual spectacle that will leave fans riveted.

As per news in a leading portal, Rishab Shetty has almost wrapped up shoot for the film. Only work of 15 to 20 days is left on the movie. It seems that shoot will happen indoors. The makers are aiming to release it in 2025 in the first half of the year. Rishab Shetty spent more than six months researching local legends to develop the script of Kantara 2. The first film had touched an emotional chord. Even celebs like Shilpa Shetty who hail from the Tulu belt of Karnataka thanked Rishab Shetty for such a divine film.

Hombale Films have pumped in a lot of money into the project. They are making a visual film, which is a treat to watch on big screens. A lot of time is devoted to the VFX. The team is going all out to ensure that post-production, VFX and colouring in top-notch. Kantara made for a great watch for its mesmerizing cinematography and scenes in the forest.
