Juhi Chawla's journey to complete Sharmaji Namkeen has been a difficult one, with the absence of Rishi Kapoor. Next month on the actor's birthday, the dramedy, which was the actor's final film, will be released.
Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. Sharmaji Namkeen, starring Juhi Chawla, was shot in the first half of 2020. He was later replaced by actor Paresh Rawal. The film will be released on the late actor’s 69th birth anniversary on September 4th.
Talking to Indian Express, the actress said “We are looking forward to its release on Chintuji’s birthday, 4th September this year,” she also told the tabloid how the producers of the film - Farhan Akhtar and Ritiesh Sidhwani and Honey Trehan - made sure that the film is completed on time.
Juhi, in fact, stated that she was envious of how well Rishi performed in his role. Juhi and Rishi reunited on Sharmaji Namkeen, directed by debutante Hitesh Bhatia, after the 2016 drama 'Chalk n Duster', in which she plays the lead and the veteran star makes a cameo.
Sharmaji Namkeen, according to Juhi, is one of the funniest scripts she's ever read, and Rishi Kapoor's character was "tailored" for him in terms of physical appearance and voice.
As a screen couple, Juhi and Rishi gave us films like Bol Radha Bol, Luck By Chance, and Eena Meena Deeka, among others.

Still hard to believe we've lost Rishi Kapoor. Like Amitabh Bachchan, his transition from his previous leading man roles to one of great character actors was absolutely brilliant lending a new life to his career. Very sad indeed as I looked forward to so much more from him.
