Jason Shah on 'Heeramandi' co-star Manisha Koirala: "At first I thought she was a little rude but later..."

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi' has been the talk of the town since its release on Netflix. Audiences have been raving about the show, the performances and little bits of the show. Recently, India Forums engaged in a candid conversation with actor Jason Shah, who was seen playing the role of Mr. Cartwright (A British officer) on the show. 

The actor opened up about his role, what the most challenging scene was for him, and how his off-set camaraderie with the actors was. When asked about a scene that he thought was most difficult for him to shoot, he mentioned, "I would definitely say it was with Indresh because, obviously, I've never done something like that before. And getting close, obviously, with another male actor kind of took me out of my comfort zone. But he's also very professional, and we had a good working relationship with each other before that."

He added, "We would have lunch together and, you know, we were always in talks. So, eventually, when it does come, of course, there's going to be a feeling of nervousness. But as I say that, you know, when you feel the butterflies in your stomach, use them."

Talking about his off-set camaraderie with the show's leading ladies, he mentioned,  "Yeah, I think not so much with Manisha. She was quite quiet, but I gave her that respect because that's how some actors are. I think they are very much, you know, in their zone.  Sometimes, you know, the way that they are going through their process is kind of cut off from the world. So, first, I thought it was a little bit rude, obviously, because it's nice to at least have a little bit of banter with your opposing actors."

He then added, "But after a while, I realized she was in her world. She's created that, and that's the kind of respect you have for the other person in the cases where they're doing their thing. Let them be in their craft how they see it. I didn't honestly have so much time to be having so much conversation, but me and Sonakshi, I think we hit it off quite nicely. Even from the first day,  we were quite, you know, chatting about things."

And yeah, we enjoyed our conversation. But yeah, I didn't have too much of work with the other actresses. So, I think we were very work-focused."
