Independence Day is to celebrate the freedom moment and respect our unfurling tri color flag.
Let's see what our TV actors share about this day.
Deepika Samson as Simar of Sasural Simar Ka"I love the feeling of patriotism that we all are immersed in on Independence Day. There is this sense of excitement in the air as this day approaches. For me this day is special as my father is from an army background and I have heard great stories about Independence from him. It is a time when we all got together and celebrated the moment of freedom. Usually on this day, I start this day by attending flag-hoisting ceremony and visiting my friends."
Toral Rasputra as Anandi of Balika Vadhu"Being independent for me will be when all violence and harassment against women will stop in the country. As a responsible Indian, I would urge every woman to stand for her rights and fight for injustice. Work towards educating others and would like to wish everyone Happy Independence Day!"
"I love being a part of all the Independence Day celebrations that take place in my college on this day. I make sure I go for the flag-hoisting ceremonies, spend time with my friends and sing patriotic songs. I remember my college's cultural event where we enact skits depicting our struggle of Independence."
Manish Raisinghani as Siddhant of Sasural Simar Ka
"According to me Independence Day is a day to remember our forefathers who sacrificed their lives to ensure the betterment of our lives, which is why we should commemorate their efforts in the best possible way. Take some time out and think as what we can do to contribute to the betterment of our country because the change begins with 'YOU' so 'YOU' make India a Better place to live in rather the best place to live on planet earth. Happy Independence Day!"
Siddharth Shukla –Shiv of Balika Vadhu"Independence Day is an important occasion since it's that one day we remember and acknowledge all those who gave their life for our country without thinking twice. We often tend to forget our martyrs. But this day allows us to salute them, and we should do whatever is in our hands to commemorate their sacrifices."
"I remember in school we used to take part in cultural activities, especially dance and drama on Independence Day showcasing the struggle of what our freedom fighters through our act. As kids I remember reading through history books about revolutionists who sacrificed their life for this country. This year, through Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, I will be playing tribute through my special act on Vande Mataram."
Vivian Dsena as RK of Madhubala- Ek Ishq, Ek Junoon
"Being in military school, we used to have a lot of activities planned for Independence Day. From being a part of the flag hoisting ceremony to participating in the parade, I used to be a part of every ceremony. I used to thoroughly enjoy it as it would induce a sense of immense pride. I make sure that I still try and be a part of the celebrations and express my regards for the country."
Jay Soni as Jay of Sanskaar.. DharoharApnon Ki"We should all promise to be responsible and conscious citizens this Independence Day. We should promise to take a stand against all evils in the society - be it corruption, ill treatment against women, inequality, etc. Just complaining is not going to help. We will be truly independent if we fight for justice and make sure that our voices are heard. Happy Independence Day!"
"Choosing our dreams and goals is what I believe is true independence. We should all be allowed to choose what we want to do in our lives and not be pressurized by anyone. Freedom of choice is one of the most important things of being independent. Happy Independence Day."
Neha Bagga as Rajji of Bani..Ishq Da Kalma"As a woman, for me true independence will be when women will be given the freedom to express their thoughts without being under the constant fear of societal norms and petty judgments. The day gender inequality stops, our country will be truly independent."
"We should not only remember the people who sacrificed their lives for our country on this day, but also all the men at the border, the navy and the air-force who work for the safety of our lives day in and day out without thinking twice. I salute all those who are serving the nation so that we can sleep peacefully in our homes. Let's all keep freedom alive ... Happy Independence Day."
Adhvik Mahajan as Sohum of Bani..Ishq Da Kalma"We have come a long way since Independence; however, there is still a long way to go. We, the youth of the nation, should join hands and fight against the problems that our country is facing currently. We should make our future generations understand the importance of freedom and the struggle our forefathers have gone through to see the light of this day."
"Independence Day always fills me with pride and love for my country. During school days, I would make it a point to attend the Independence Day parade, while my friends' considered it as another holiday. It feels great that I am a child of this land and proud of its achievements."
Sana Saeed, contestant, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa"As a child, I only thought of15th Augustas a holiday. But as I am growing up, I'm realizing the importance of the day and how much this freedom and liberty means to us. Vande Mataram is the feeling!!"
"India is one such democracy that not only the people living in here but also whoever comes here, feel that sense of freedom. But, even after 67 years of independence, we still face basic man-made problems such as poverty, pollution and lack of education and to some extent lack of human rights. If we could find some solution to these, we could truly be one of the greatest democracies in the world."
Mukti Mohan, contestant, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6
"During
my boarding days, I remember being the NCC leader marching with the band and
saluting the president...It was a different feeling altogether…
This week of Jhalak is very special to me. Seeing the tricolor melts my heart.
I am a proud Indian and I don't wish to change anything about my country."
