The Sunil Grover-Kapil Sharma saga has been the talk of the town for a while now. While several people have a different take on the whole issue, we are still awaiting the actual confirmation on Sunil's exit from the show.

Till that happens, we are in a phase, where many have started to wonder if we have finally witnessed the ultimate downfall of the brand- Kapil Sharma.

The Rise and Rise of Kapil Sharma

Just another comedian amidst the flock, Kapil made a mark for himself getting popularity and recognition as the competition to Krushna Abhishek-Sudesh Lahiri in multiple seasons of 'Comedy Circus'. The Sony TV reality show ran for many years and Kapil along with Krushna-Sudesh became the flag bearer of the show.

He came, He saw, He conquered...

He took a bold step of quitting 'Comedy Circus' to begin his own show, 'Comedy Nights With Kapil.' The next thing we know, it went on to become a humongous success. From becoming a star favourite to being loved by millions, Kapil was a phenomenon.

He tackled the Colors' Comedy Nights With Kapil controversy with utmost grace

The controversy of Colors channel and Krushna Abhishek v/s Kapil Sharma, in fact, worked in his favour. Being mum about the whole saga and not foul mouthing meant people supporting Kapil even more. He parted ways with Colors and jumped to Sony TV with 'The Kapil Sharma Show.'

'The Kapil Sharma Show'? Really?

There is no denying that the man had become a brand already and coming up with his second show meant marketing his brand explicitly. However, literally centering the show to Kapil's name was always a dicey move. Of course, that did not mean, it was going to hamper the success of it, but it certainly meant, the man has become 'one man' and is no more a leader to a team.

The success of 'The Kapil Sharma Show' was majorly credited to Sunil Grover.

How often do you come across a person who immortalizes a character, breaks that image completely, dons a new character altogether and manages to immortalize that too?

Certainly a rare occurrence. It was Sunil Grover whose performance made Gutthi a rage amongst masses in 'Comedy Nights With Kapil.' And as we were set to witness 'The Kapil Sharma Show, many had their doubts about Sunil being able to make his 'new' character as iconic as Gutthi. The man's talent and dedication was unparalleled and it was because of his portrayal that Dr. Mashoor Gulati became equally iconic. In fact, little butterflies started to murmur about how the show is actually a hit due to Sunil's act predominantly.

The Level of the show began to go down gradually

While it was elite celebrities who would come on the show to promote their films, the standard of the jokes and gags started dipping gradually. However, it was the team who was one of the prime reasons for the connect, where Sunil, Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar among others made sure that the viewers are glued to the show and still laughed on the gags. The difference became rather evident with Sunil's absence and recent reports have reiterated the concern even more.

Actress Tapsee Pannu and Manoj Bajpai recently came on the show to promote their upcoming film, 'Naam Shabana' when the line-up of comedians was a complete contrast. With Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar being absent, Kapil roped in comedians like Ahsaan Qureshi, Sunil Pal and Raju Srivastava of whom we do not see much anymore.

When controversies engulfed the funny man, the whole cast of 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' sans Upasana Singh stood by Kapil and left the show too to join him in his next project. I am sure, many would agree about how 'The Kapil Sharma Show' would have been absolutely lackluster without the same team and just Kapil as the face.

Dear Kapil, you were never a one-man Army!

The recent occurrences and controversies are not the first time such a thing has happened with Kapil. In the past, there have been cases, where Kapil's arrogance has lead to him mouthing inappropriate stuff to his team. And of course, who can forget the whole saga, where he apparently got drunk and tweeted to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi about corruption. The so-called 'good man' image of the comedian has been fading considerably.

The stakes have been high and the man's fame is in jeopardy

Many would argue that Kapil is being targeted now that this saga is a negative take on him. However, this is actually just an extension as to how the thing has come out in the open now. The man who earns 1 crore per episode, needs to probably re-think about his position and the responsibility that comes with power.

The time may not be completely 'UP' for him

Having said all of the above, we cannot take away anything that Kapil has accomplished over the time. The man deserves all the accolades and appreciation that he enjoys today. However, as Sunil Grover aptly put himself, that a successful man is always guided by a team. There is a reason why that person is more successful than others and that is because of talent, luck and approach. But, that in no way means that the person is the ONLY reason for the fame.

Let's just say, Kapil still has some time to recuperate everything and make things the way it were. So, Mr. Kapil Sharma, be the man you portray to be, not the man that you now seem to be.
