'I sleep , cook and eat' - Aakanksha Singh

You are playing Megha's character and it is a very challenging character for a debutant. What prompted you to take it up?

As an actor it is my responsibility to take up challenges. When this role was offered , I knew I could do it. My experience in theater came handy as I have played some really intense characters.

What are you like in real life?

I'm not as quiet as Megha but I'm reserved. It takes me time to open up and express myself. First couple of months on the sets I barely spoke but now things are really chilled out.

Are you spiritual ?

Yes, I'm spiritual. I believe in God. In Jaipur I would go to a temple but here it is not possible as there is hardly any time. There is a small temple in the building where I stay , so I try and fold my hands whenever I can.

You were seriously pursuing your academic career but then opted for acting. How was your parents reaction ?

My father was very supportive and my mother was a theater artist her self. Her first play was with Irrfan Khan. My father knew I was strong academically and would end up managing my studies.

Which was the last movie you watched in the theatre?

I am a huge movie buff. I would end up watching every movie in the theater. It is difficult now to manage it with shooting hours. I watched 'Ekk maiin hu aur ek tu' with my family when they were here. It was a late night show!

Are you a prankster on the sets?

No, I'm not a prankster. I'm the quiet one. Kunal Karan Kapoor and Dushyant Wagh handle that department on the sets (Laughs!)

What is your off day like?

Oh! That is a novelty. I sleep all day, cook and eat !

What is your dream role on television?

I'm open to all kinds of roles as long as they are challenging. I have not set anything for myself in stone. Something like Vidya Balan's character in 'Kahaani' was very powerful and I'd love to play such character.

What is your dressing style?

I wear anything and everything. Be it shorts , dresses , denims or sarees! Megha is very stereotypical with her dressing but I experiment !

Do you live alone in Mumbai?

Yes, I live alone in Mumbai and miss my parents terribly! They try and visit whenever they can.
