'I promise that 'Beyhadh' will not get boring and monotonous'...
...says actor Sumit Bhardwaj who returns to acting after his debut in 'Shastri Sisters'.

'Beyhadh' went on-air two days ago and it has already been getting rave reviews from everywhere. While the principal cast of the show are wowing one and all with powerful performances, one character that also caught everyone's eye was Arjun's (Kushal Tandon) younger brother, Ayan Sharma which is played by Sumit Bharadwaj.
In a vis-a-vis conversation with Sumit, he spills beans over his character, expectations from the show and other things.
Tell us something about your character.
My character is a really fun loving character and just wants to have fun and stay happy, living with his family. However, while we are leading a happy and amazing life, the entry of Maya (Jennifer Winget) will create a rift between my brother, Arjun (Kushal Tandon) and my mother (Swati Shah), adding more to the existing tension that already prevails between them. And of course, what would then follow, is a love triangle between Saanjh (Aneri Vajani), Arjun and Maya.
And the best part about the show is, that it is not going to remain constant. 'Beyhadh' will keep coming up with so many twists and turns and will also introduce them to the viewers wisely, according to how we get the TRPs too.
You mentioned about the love triangle in the show. Will your character also have a love angle in the upcoming episodes?
(Laughs) As I mentioned above, the surprises and twists in the show will be introduced according to the response every week. And while, there is a love triangle between the lead trio, let me tell you a secret. There will surely be a love angle pertaining to my character also in the future. Everything is totally going to be 'Beyhadh'.
You did 'Shastri Sisters' where the plot revolved around your character and Sonal Vengurlekar's character primarily; and here you are doing a supporting role. Did you have any inhibitions doing a supporting role from an almost parallel lead character?
Both the shows, (Shastri Sisters and Beyhadh) are completely different. 'Shastri Sisters' was an amazing experience as it was my first show. However, now with 'Beyhadh', of course, Kushal, Jennifer and Aneri play the leads and the plot revolves around them. But, a month later, you will notice the characters have changed drastically and something completely new will pop up, giving importance to a character you were not expecting. And of course, another thing that got me attracted to the show was that it wasn't one of those saas-bahu shows. It was something totally different and something never done before.
The show is intended to be a finite series. However, we have seen it in the past that when a finite series gets an overwhelming response, it tends to get extended and even the quality of content is compromised upon. Do you see the same happening with this show?
I truly believe that the show should remain a finite series. And we are totally clear about one thing, that the content of the show will not get compromised come what may. In fact, you may not believe, but the whole day of shoot just gives us footage of 4 minutes on-screen. That itself explains that the makers are going all out to give only quality content. We were shooting for three months and now we complete four months. But we have completed only a few episodes. But, just for rushing footage, we are not compromising the content.
Sony TV's prime time slot isn't working as well as its weekend slot. A show like 'Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi' is popular but not fetching the desired ratings. Do you think this will change with 'Beyhadh'?
I certainly think it will change with 'Beyhadh'. It is a simple thing, the TRPs change and increase when GRP (Gross Rating Points) increases. Sony is looking for a revolution in television and Beyhadh' is the beginning to it. They are also planning to introduce a few more path breaking shows in the next few months. So, as I said, we are hoping and positive that 'Beyhadh' will get the desired TRPs and hope people love the show.
At the end, would you like to give a special message to the fans on what to expect from the show, now that two episodes have been on-air?
The show is totally absolutely performance-oriented. There is no saas-bahu drama and repetitive stuff which, especially the youth doesn't connect with. It is a show, which I relate to and I am sure the youth and everyone will relate too. The scenes of the show are realistic and not over-the-top, where it depicts how a boy and girl meet, how the young people party, especially my character. My character is partying all the time in the show (laughs). So, one thing I promise, is that it will never get boring and monotonous.
