I have never been insecure about the screen space and roles I am offered - Khurshed Lawyer

Actor Khurshed Lawyer has made a comeback to the screens with the web show, The Great Indian Murder on Hotstar. He has been an essential part of various popular movies, television shows and TVCs, some of them being Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahani, Double Dhamaal and television shows like Sasural Genda Phool, Baa Bahu Baby, Ayushman and others.

In the recently released Tigmanshu Dhulia's The Great Indian Murder, he is seen playing the character of a psychiatrist. Talking about his role and why he chose to play it, he said, 

"I am playing the character of a psychiatrist i.e. Dr Diwan, who is seen to be talking about a session of Mohan Kumar aka Raghuvir Yadav in the show. The only reason that I chose the script and the character was it was very serious and different character for the ones I have essayed earlier. You cannot deny that there is no better way of coming back with a bang than with Tigmanshu Dhulia's project and simultaneously, sharing the screen with Ragubir Yadav."

He adds,

"As an actor, I have hardly refused to doing a character. Be it a 2 min role, or a 20 min role, I have done it all, as long as the character has depth, screen presence and is performance oriented. An actor necessarily needs to be judgmental about the roles and the screen space we have been offered but I have never been insecure about it, because I leave all the responsibilities of that on the director, because at the end. He is the one who is going to bring their best out of you,"

Further, commenting on the success of the show, he says,

"It has been more than a week and it is still on the top of the charts so I believe it's God's blessing, the affection of the audience and not to discount the hard work of all the cast and crew. So yes, it has been amazing. I hope the second season comes soon."

Lastly, on being asked about upcoming projects, 

"I have been approached for a couple of movies, and I am still to sign the dotted lines. Once something gets confirmed, I will surely share it with the audience. I just want to work back to back now and I will leave no stone unturned to entertain the audience."

The Great Indian Murder features Richa Chadha and Pratik Gandhi in the lead roles.
